NMHU Geology

Luke Romero is a graduate student at New Mexico Highlands University working towards an M.S. in geology with a focus in paleomagnetism. After attending his first IRES internship in 2019, a project investigating the emplacement history of Vina Ricka Hora, a Cenozoic volcanic complex, would become the focus of his graduate thesis. His investigation of this complex located in the Bohemian Massif in Central Czech aims to further the understanding of the eruptive evolution of the complex through rock magnetic and paleomagnetic experiments. In 2022 he continued work on his graduate thesis in the Czech Republic and acted as mentor to Chris Ulibari and field assistant to Mike Petronis. Romero plans to complete his degree in Spring of 2024.
