At NMHU Geology, we aim to showcase the incredible geological field work conducted by our dedicated college interns. Our mission is to provide a platform where their efforts in documenting geological phenomena in Europe can be recognized and appreciated.


Geology career opportunities are more diverse than ever due to the growing national concern of dwindling natural resources, urban expansion, and environmental problems. Geological employment is strong in water resources, engineering geology, and environmental geology; although many other fields employ people with degrees in Geology and related fields. The chart below displays the percentage of individuals employed in various fields based on survey data collected by the National Science Foundation in 1999: 


The Environmental Geology Program is a field-oriented major emphasizing earth materials, minerals, rock and water interactions, surface and ground water hydrology, geophysics, volcanology and paleomagnetic. Our labs offer an assortment of field equipment for surveying geological mapping, water sampling, ecological monitoring and other field studies.
